Getting a Green Card:
It is a requirement to apply for a Green Card when you have been in the US for 1 year (not sooner, not later)
– Any history of crime or policer record can cause a Green Card application to be declined – be careful!
– For a green card application, you must have you immunizations complete, you will meet with a special doctor (civil sergeon), bring your paper forms a, and keep your I-94 and all additional required documents for the application.

Citizenship/Naturalization
Applying for citizenship is optional, but allowed starting once you have been in the US for 4 years 9 months.
It is necessary to know English, US history and US Laws for interviews and tests

Benefits of citizenship include:
•Protection of US government, immunity to deportation
• US passport and travel without restriction
• Voting rights
• Continued assistance and benefits, including retirement benefits (SSI)
• There are more family reunification options for citizens
